The international meeting Blair on Climate Solutions on May 8 is aiming to be a fully climate neutral event. The event’s climate related activities involve reducing the emissions of greenhouse gasses and offsetting unavoidable emissions through a Gold Standard project of Climate Neutral Group.
The event’s climate related activities will be assessed and coordinated by the Dutch Postcode Lottery and the Climate Neutral Group. The assessment is based on a three-pronged approach:
Buying emissions reductions that have been examined and certified by the UN-accredited DOE (Designated Operational Entity) SGS, according to the Gold Standard criteria, ensures that the avoided emissions are real and additional, and thus contribute to sustainable development in the host country. Gold Standard is supported by a large number of independent organisations, including WWF International and Greenpeace International.
Climate Neutral Group is one of Europe’s leading carbon offset providers, focusing on renewable energy production and energy optimisation. Customers of Climate Neutral Group include the Dutch Government (12 ministries), IUCN, GRI, CARE Netherlands, Dutch Postcode Lottery, Amnesty International Netherlands, ING, TNT, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and a range of partners in travel, car leasing, IT, transport and postal services.
Climate Neutral Group is member of ICROA, the world’s leading alliance of carbon offset providers, with strong focus on transparency and quality.
